San Martino in Badia / San Martin de Tor - Val Badia
The cultural point of Val Badia
Situated in the middle of Val Badia at 1127 m a.s.l., San Martino in Badia is one of the five municipalities of Val Badia. With the communities of Longiarù and Antermoia, the small ladin village encounters the 1800 inhabitants.
San Martin de Tor, in ladin, is known as the cultural centre of the valley. Many important infrastructures of Val Badia are located here, among which there are the lstitut Ladin Micurà de Rü (the institute for ladin culture) and the Ladin Museum Ciastel de Tor (the cultural and ladin language museum); the latter is located in the castle dominating the village, photographic emblem and important historical building.
The town village is particularly concentrated in the centre, but it presents numerous rural settlements located on the sunny slopes in its proximity. Among the walks you can take in San Martino, we recommend the path "Tru Vistles" running along the Rio Gardera and a pleasant artificial lake underneath the village.
The village is also connected to the winter slopes of Kronplatz / Plan de Corones, through the cable car of the closest Piccolino and the Alta Badia with a free skibus service.
